No one ever expects to be investigated by a licensing board. However, it is critically important to recognize the seriousness and gravity of an investigation and the stakes of a formal licensing board action.
In this article, Paul-Michael La Fayette, JD, explains there were more than 7,000 adverse actions taken against physicians in 2018, including revocations, surrenders, suspensions, restrictions and probations. What’s more, the number of adverse actions that result in discipline is only a fraction of the number of investigations conducted. And even less serious disciplinary actions can carry serious consequences.
