Section 179

When you choose to help your business by adding new or used equipment, Section 179 of the IRS tax code could help you save money. 

You can deduct as much as $1,000,000 for a qualifying equipment purchase, even when it is 100% financed. 

How Section 179 Works

Imagine you negotiate a great price of $25,000 on new equipment for your business. With Section 179, you may be able to deduct the entire equipment cost in the year you put the equipment to use. 

Your tax savings could be $8,750 if you're in the 35% tax bracket. The amount you save in taxes could be more than your loan payments for the entire first year.

To help businesses adhere to the Americans with Disabilities (ADA) Act, Section 44 of the tax code was created. You could get a credit of as much as 50% of your purchase up to $10,250. The maximum credit is $5,000.

  • Your total revenue in the last tax year was $1,000,000 or less; or
  • You have 30 or fewer full-time employees
