Dental App Provides Intervention for Anesthesia Emergencies

The ADSA app, ADSA Ten Minutes Saves a Life, provides interventions on patient care in the event of an emergency when using anesthesia.

Anesthesia is commonly used in dental offices for more complex procedures, and it is important for dentists to be prepared for any type of situation or patient reaction. Whether you are providing minimal, moderate or deep sedation for your patient’s procedure, you need to have the correct tools—and staff—available and be prepared for any unexpected outcome.

The American Dental Society of Anesthesiologists (ADSA), a nonprofit dedicated to education and research in patient safety in the areas of anesthesia, anxiety and pain control, has come up with a free app to help dentists in the event of an emergency.

The app “ADSA Ten Minutes Saves a Life!” allows you to choose the level of anesthesia you provide for your patient. Should an unexpected event or emergency happen, the app also provides crisis management and interventions on patient care in the event of an emergency, such as allergic reactions, chest pain and more. The app is intended to create a safer patient culture in dentistry and provide a critical tool for dentists.

You can find the app in Apple’s App Store and in Google Play, and learn more about the app and information provided by the ADA.
