Indiana Policyholders: Notice to policyholders recently affected by severe weather.

Flood Insurance

It doesn't take a lot of water to do a lot of damage — and standard insurance often doesn't cover flooding.

Flood Insurance Includes:

Dwelling Coverage

This includes the actual structure, as well as electrical, HVAC, plumbing, appliances and built-in furniture.

Personal Property

This covers the cash value of other items damaged during flooding, such as electronics, supplies and décor.

What Isn’t Covered

As with any other type of insurance, it's important to know what your policy does and doesn't cover. For example, damage caused by a sewer backup is only covered by flood insurance if it's a direct result of flooding. The damage is not covered if the backup is caused by some other problem.

If you think flooding isn’t a concern

If You Think Flooding Isn’t a Concern for Your Business

Consider these facts:

  • All 50 states have experienced floods or flash floods in the last 5 years.
  • Just a few inches of water from a flood can cause tens of thousands of dollars in damage.
  • Hurricanes, winter storms and snowmelt are common (but often overlooked) causes of flooding.
  • Flash flooding isn’t just weather-related: Water main breaks and fire hydrant mishaps can also damage your property.
